The ThermoSeed method has been extensively
evaluated. Good treatment effects have consequently been obtained
in field tests in many countries with various climatic conditions.
The results are, for most diseases, equivalent to or better
than those obtained from chemical seed treatment. The Swedish
University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) has evaluated and
compared a large number of products, most chemicals, for barley
seed treatment against Drechslera teres, the most serious
barley pathogen in Sweden. During the three years 2005-2007,
ThermoSeed has been in top, both regarding effects on leaf
spots and harvest yield. The table below shows the treatment
effect of the method compared with those of the most common
seed treatment chemicals in some cereals and rice.
SeedGard has, together with researchers, institutes and companies
all over Europe, been evaluating the ThermoSeed method also
for seeds from other crops, for example various vegetable
species. These tests have shown a high potential to contribute,
already in a close future, with an effective alternative to
chemicals for many more crops than those offered today. For
